If like us you are obsessed with wearing your Solotica contacts on a regular basis and can’t seem to go back to your original shade (we feel you), you may be starting to question if doing this day in and day out is the best procedure. Some of you may have been wearing colored contacts for a while, or maybe you are new to this cosmetic world and are only just embarking on your iris-changing journey – whichever your timeline, it is important to maintain a healthy eye routine whilst wearing any contacts on a regular basis – just like ordinary prescription lenses.

Can you wear color contacts daily

Eyes are delicate and can be easily irritated so there is a lot of speculation on whether it is possible to wear colored lenses everyday. In short, the answer is yes, but this all depends on the individual’s eye health, the wear time, the type of contact lenses, and if the necessary hygiene precautions are being taken. Let’s delve into this further…

Are Colored Contact Lenses Safe For Daily Use?

Let’s start by saying, before you begin wearing colored lenses frequently, you need to be aware of the safety measures. First, it would be the best choice to check in with your eye doctor/optician to see if wearing colored lenses are suited for you, just so they can give you the all-clear before you proceed. It’s reassuring to get medical advice, believe us. After this, the second tick box is finding a trusted brand that you can rely on. There are too many fakes on the market that are selling lenses that will wreck your eyes – so be careful. But fear not, Solotica lenses are FDA-approved and CE certificated which means they are safe to use! Once you have established these two important pointers, knowing how to care for your colored contacts is vital for daily wear. If you need some tips, we have your back:

Things to Remeber When Wearing Color Contact Lenses

  • 1. Always wash your hands before handling colored contacts as unwashed hands can be full of bacteria that can then transfer to your contacts.
  • 2. When washing your hands, only use unscented soap as oily or perfumed soap can leave a surface on your hands that could contaminate the lenses.
  • 3. Make sure when drying your hands, you don’t transfer any fluff or particles to the contacts as this can get trapped between causing discomfort.
  • 4. Always apply makeup after you have put in your colored lenses as this reduces your chance of getting makeup in your contact – especially the pesky mascara flakes.
  • 5. Water is not your friend – so never wash your face, take a shower, or swim with your colored contacts in.
  • 6. Never sleep in your lenses, and for those of you who have already done this, you know that this will seriously dry out your eyes.
  • 7. Remove, clean, and store colored lenses correctly after removable unless they are daily disposables (it’s ok, we’ll get to that in a minute)
  • 8. Only use your lenses for the length of time recommended.
  • 9. Make sure you give your eyes a break on a regular basis, so a day or two a week if possible.
  • 10. Lastly, when storing your colored contacts back on the case, ensure that the lids are tightly sealed to avoid the lens solution to evaporate avoiding lenses to dry out and expose with microfibers.

We know this is a long list (sorry) but caring for your eyes should be considered a serious topic. If you follow these guidelines above, then wearing contacts daily is safe to do so.

How Long Can Colored Lenses Be Worn?

Generally, the recommended wear time for colored contacts is up to 10-12 hours a day. However, this will all depend on your own eyes and how quickly they get irritated or dry out. Just like the last tip above, wearing colored contacts on a regular basis is fine, but you need to make sure you allow your eyes to rest. Everyday wear of colored lenses can lead to eyes drying out due to the lenses hindering tears from flowing over the cornea. In a worst-case scenario, this could lead to dry eye syndrome, and nobody wants that.

How Long Can You Wear Contact Lenses

So, either in the morning or the evening, take a few hours out of your day to let your eyes breathe, and then in addition to this, have one whole day a week to be completely-contact free (we know that’s hard to do so). To accompany this, here at Solotica we sell different lenses for different timeframes, so for those who don’t like the idea of discarding lenses after one use – there are plenty of alternatives!

Daily Disposable Color Contact Lenses

The daily disposable color lens collection is great for those who have a hectic schedule as they require little to no maintenance. Once the user wears these for 10-12 hours a day (or less if you prefer), they can be discarded in the bin and a fresh pair can be worn in the morning. These are particularly favored for people who have dry eyes due to their high water content. At Solotica we have our Aquarella Daily range featuring a combination of 5 beautiful shades with a natural finish. Easy and flawless, what more could you want?

Monthly Disposable Color Contact Lenses

If you don’t like the idea of discarding a lens after one wear, then we suggest monthly colored contacts which can be worn for a month before being thrown away, just make sure they are kept in the correct solution and cleaned properly after each use. We have three collections of monthly lenses at Solotica, and these are Hidrocor Monthly, Solflex Natural Colors natural-looking colored contacts that are perfect to complement your everyday style and Color Hype – which are SFX contact lenses fantastic for cosplay or Halloween!

Quarterly Disposable Color Contact Lenses

Our quarterly collection here at Solotica consists of 12 exciting shades that can be worn for 3 months before they are discarded. Aquarella Quarterly features a range of natural hues including the olive-green shade of Cambuci Green (one of the best-sellers) to the deep blue tone of Arara Blue.

Yearly Disposable Color Contact Lenses

Lastly, for those who don’t mind the constant cleaning and are happy with their colored lens care routine, we have the yearly lenses. Due to the nature of these, they tend to be thicker and sturdier as they must last a longer period of time. So, for those who prefer thinner lenses, these may not be the right choice. Again, we have 3 yearly collections: Hidrocor,Hidrocor Rio, and Natural Colors.

Our yearly color contact lenses are also available in a custom-made prescription for astigmatism which means you can wear colored contact lenses even if you have astigmatism.

Is It Bad To Wear Colored Lenses Every Day?

Is It Bad To Wear Colored Contacts Daily

Switching up your iris color is exciting, and as we have discussed, it is not bad to wear colored contacts everyday especially if you follow the correct cleaning routine and keep to our safety tips. Just make sure you give your eyes a frequent rest day to recuperate. Eye drops can help to prevent this also, but this should not be the substitute. All in all, if you keep your eyes healthy, and make sure your colored lens routine comes at the top of your list, there’s no reason why you cannot wear these lenses for a long period of time. Don’t be afraid to transform your look and be the best you.
